Senior Medical Officer – Emergency Department

About the role

Develop and implement a contemporary, evidence‑based model of care that delivers safe, efficient and patient‑focused emergency services across Gladstone Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality emergency medical care and support clinical governance.
• Supervise and mentor medical, nursing and allied health staff, including specialist trainees, junior doctors and medical students.
• Strengthen emergency medicine services across Central Queensland, including Telehealth support and work across CQ Health facilities.
• Contribute to clinical audits, research, professional development and specialist training programmes.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent and eligibility for registration with AHPRA.
• Significant clinical experience in emergency medicine and strong leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead service improvement and liaise with professional staff, the public and other stakeholders.

• Total remuneration up to $652,478 per annum, including salary ranges, 12.75% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading.
