About the role

Axiom, a leading on‑demand legal talent provider, seeks a Senior Legal Counsel for a three‑month parental leave cover. You will join a commercial‑focused legal team, shaping strategies that support business objectives across marketing, contracting and general commercial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice across a complex multinational environment, ensuring alignment with commercial goals.
• Assess and manage legal risk, delivering clear, pragmatic guidance to senior leaders.
• Advise on commercial, contracting and dispute matters, leveraging strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Uphold governance, compliance and ethical standards while maintaining professional credibility.
• Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders through clear written and verbal advice.
• Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations, applying business acumen and legal expertise.

Required profile

• Specialised advice across intellectual property, consumer law and general commercial matters, with substantial in‑house or top‑tier firm experience.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex procurement contracts and managing related disputes, including litigation strategy.
• Ability to ensure compliance with Australian legal requirements and insight into neighbouring jurisdictions such as New Zealand.
• Maintain the highest standards of integrity and deliver clear, credible guidance in a fast‑moving commercial environment.
