Senior Joinery Designer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Joinery Designer to lead the design and drafting function for a growing custom joinery and cabinetry business in Melbourne. The role involves producing detailed, production‑ready drawings, improving drawing quality and supporting the design team to deliver high‑quality residential and commercial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed joinery drawings, shop drawings, elevations, sections and technical documentation using AutoCAD.
• Interpret architectural drawings and project specifications to create buildable designs.
• Liaise closely with production, project management and installation teams.
• Oversee and mentor designers and drafters, reviewing and improving drawing quality and technical accuracy.
• Ensure designs are practical, aligned with manufacturing processes and support workflow optimisation.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and contribute to successful project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in joinery, cabinetry, shopfitting or commercial fit‑outs.
• Strong AutoCAD drafting and technical detailing expertise.
• Excellent understanding of joinery construction and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
• Leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Experience in a senior or leadership design role is preferred.
• Professional, reliable and solutions‑focused attitude.
