Senior Java Engineer

About the role

As a hands-on Java Engineer at Macquarie, a global financial services group operating in 30 markets, you will contribute to the development of next-generation platforms. Working with engineers, product managers and business stakeholders, you will design, develop and support cloud-native applications across the full technology stack, including Java and Spring Boot services, APIs and supporting data layers.

Key responsibilities

• Write code for multiple services, create designs and review pull requests
• Identify and simplify complex services and processes
• Explore new technologies and vendor capabilities that benefit the team and clients
• Design and implement engineering initiatives across multiple teams and/or platforms
• Work with engineering leaders, product managers and other engineers to deliver solutions
• Ensure high code quality, testing and security standards; be accountable for application reliability and uptime
• Take part in incident management, run post-mortems and follow up on actions

Required profile

• Strong technical background, preferably in Java-based software engineering
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team on complex engineering initiatives
• Product company experience with an understanding of building products in an Agile environment
• Solid understanding of building scalable, maintainable and performant web applications
• Computer science education or equivalent experience
• Clear communication with all levels of the organisation
