Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Network & Automation

About the role

Mitti by SafetyCulture is hiring its first engineer into a new team to build a hybrid network that connects its existing AWS and Google Cloud environments to a new physical colocation facility and then to the internet via a multi-homed network. The work starts with R&D workloads, and network and hardware operations are treated as a software problem from day one. The role is specialist across networking and generalist across infrastructure, not a people leadership role.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate a multi-homed internet edge using BGP with multiple carriers
• Run an EVPN/VXLAN overlay fabric with ECMP forwarding
• Connect AWS and GCP to the physical network with a routed, secure path defined in code
• Help set up Mitti's own routed IP address space, including ASN allocation, peering and route origin validation
• Build the automation layer for network and hardware operations, starting at one site and designed for a global footprint
• Contribute to on-premises Kubernetes and to the colo environment build (hardware, cabling, out-of-band management)
• Make the estate observable and self-service, writing designs, standards and runbooks

Required profile

• Experience running a multi-homed BGP network, including peering, traffic engineering and path selection
• Strong Linux system administration; open network OS such as SONiC is a strong advantage
• Ability to write working Python or Go; Terraform and Ansible are a plus
• Experience with cloud networks in AWS or GCP and with physical infrastructure (racking, cabling, BMCs)
• Fluent, everyday use of AI tools for infrastructure code, automation and runbooks

Required skills

• BGP, IP networking fundamentals and packet-level debugging (Wireshark or equivalent)
• EVPN/VXLAN with ECMP multipath forwarding
• Kubernetes networking (CNI plugins, services, ingress, load balancers) in self-managed or bare-metal environments
• Enterprise or data centre network vendors (Arista, Juniper, Cisco or similar) is helpful
