Senior Human Resources Business Partner

About the role

Colac Otway Shire Council is looking for an experienced Senior Human Resources Business Partner to join its People and Culture team. The role acts as a trusted advisor to leaders across the organisation, helping to strengthen workforce capability, manage complex people matters and drive strategic people initiatives that support the council's communities.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on employee relations, industrial relations and employment legislation
• Lead workplace investigations, dispute resolution and case management
• Partner with leaders to build capability, improve performance and strengthen culture
• Support enterprise bargaining, workplace change initiatives and union consultation
• Represent the Council in Fair Work matters and manage employment-related proceedings
• Drive workforce planning, organisational development and people-focused improvement initiatives
• Use workforce insights and data to identify trends, mitigate risk and support decision-making

Required profile

• Significant experience in a senior HR Business Partner, Employee Relations or Industrial Relations role
• Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations
• Experience supporting organisational development, workforce planning and change initiatives
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or a related discipline

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of employment legislation, Fair Work processes and enterprise agreements
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skills
• Outstanding communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities
