Senior Hoisting Applications Engineer

About the role

ABB is seeking a Senior Hoisting Applications Engineer to lead design and delivery of mine hoist solutions across Australia. You will act as the technical authority for electrical, control, drive systems and functional safety, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and oversee hoisting system projects, including new installations, upgrades and life‑cycle extensions.
• Coordinate with mechanical, control, safety and commissioning teams to ensure best‑in‑class performance.
• Create work plans, cost estimates and ensure projects meet quality, safety and cybersecurity standards.
• Support manufacturing, testing, installation and on‑site commissioning activities.
• Mentor engineering colleagues and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent) valid in Australia.
• Professional engineering registration (or eligibility) in Australia.
• Experience with mine hoisting systems or safety‑critical heavy industrial applications.
• Strong capability in electrical power systems, large variable speed drives and control systems.
• Working knowledge of functional safety standards (IEC 62061/61508) and lifecycle practices.
