Senior Group Finance Manager

About the role

A large, complex organisation based in Inner West, Sydney, is seeking an experienced Group Finance Manager on an initial 6-12 month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the role acts as second-in-command across group finance, leading the financial control function and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting. It offers backfill while the incumbent moves into a key project.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the group-level financial team, driving accountability, collaboration and high performance.
• Oversee month-end close, group consolidation, general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage preparation of statutory financial statements, regulatory reporting and external audit requirements.
• Maintain financial governance, internal controls and accounting policies in line with Australian accounting standards.
• Coordinate group reporting across business units, subsidiaries and joint ventures.
• Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior executives and the Board.
• Partner with senior finance stakeholders on technical accounting advice and support business decisions.
• Identify improvements to financial reporting processes, systems and controls.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification, supported by a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 8+ years' experience in a senior group finance leadership role.
• Proven experience leading an accounting or financial control team.
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting standards and statutory reporting.
• Demonstrated experience with group consolidation, month-end close and balance sheet management.
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and to deliver under tight deadlines.
