Senior Financial Accountant - Group Services & Assets

About the role

Michael Hill, an international retail business, is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to lead financial accounting, reporting and asset-related activities across its Group Services and asset management functions. Reporting to the Finance Manager – Corporate, the role suits a technically strong accountant who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, driving process improvements and giving commercial insights. The position is based at the Brisbane Support Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month-end reporting processes for Group Services and asset accounting
• Manage reporting and analysis of Group capital expenditure, including budget performance and variances
• Review financial results and provide variance analysis
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
• Work with project leaders and stakeholders on accurate project costing and financial management
• Support budgeting and forecasting
• Provide technical accounting guidance on assets and SaaS arrangements
• Coordinate audit requirements and statutory reporting
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and mentor direct reports

Required profile

• CPA or CA qualification
• Degree in Accounting or a related discipline
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Commercially minded, able to build trusted stakeholder relationships

Required skills

• Strong financial reporting and general ledger experience
• Sound knowledge of IFRS
• Experience managing balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
• ERP systems; Dynamics 365 highly regarded
