Senior Finance Officer/Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Finance Officer/Assistant Accountant to join our Milton, Brisbane team. The role will support the finance function across accounts payable, receivable, cash‑flow management and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Process and post supplier invoices, obtain required approvals, and manage the AP inbox.
• Create and verify new vendor records, including EFTSure bank‑detail validation.
• Liaise with vendors to resolve invoice, account and payment discrepancies.
• Prepare electricity wholesale/network counterparties invoicing data and follow up outstanding invoices.
• Support customer service on chargebacks, refunds and concession invoicing for government departments.
• Maintain and update the daily cash‑flow statement, monitor cash receipts/expenses and investigate discrepancies.
• Distribute daily aged trial balance and cash‑receipts reports to stakeholders.
• Prepare loan‑facility availability calculations and related reports.
• Complete bank, employee expense and credit‑card reconciliations on time.
• Perform AP/AR reconciliations, post journals for commissions, concessions, pre‑payments and amortisation.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, record additions/disposals, and reconcile to the general ledger.
• Provide support for regulatory and financial audits, preparing documentation and responding to queries.
• Undertake ad‑hoc finance tasks as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, finance officer or assistant accountant roles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Good communication skills for vendor and internal stakeholder interaction.
