Senior Farm Hand / Machinery Operator

About the role

Rural Enterprises is recruiting a Senior Farm Hand / Machinery Operator for a large mixed farming operation in Western Australia's Great Southern region. The farm runs a 6,800ha cropping program with a strong machinery focus, using predominantly John Deere equipment including X9 harvesters backed by John Deere Guidance. The employer prefers an experienced operator who is very good in a couple of key areas and keen to develop the rest, rather than someone who can do everything.

Key responsibilities

• Senior operating role depending on experience and strengths, covering air seeder operation, self-propelled boom spraying, header and harvest operations, chaser bin operation and truck driving.
• During busy periods, the permanent team provides the experience and continuity behind the machinery program, with flexibility on where you fit.

Required profile

• Several seasons of broadacre farming experience.
• Strong machinery operating ability and experience in spraying, seeding, harvest and/or truck driving.
• Ability to work confidently without constant supervision, with good machinery awareness and a practical approach to maintenance.
• HR licence preferred; MC licence highly regarded.
• Willingness to assist with sheep when required and non-smoker.

What we offer

• Remuneration package dependent on experience, with attractive pay and senior machinery responsibilities.
• Modern machinery and technology, variety across the farming calendar.
• Family accommodation with electricity and gas included, and a work vehicle with running costs covered.
• Approximately 50-hour weeks outside peak periods, close to large towns with schooling and work for partners.
