Senior Engineer / Estimator

About the role

Indiji Civil, a 100% Indigenous-owned civil construction, plant hire and labour hire company with hubs in Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane and New South Wales, is growing and wants an experienced Senior Engineer / Estimator to help win and deliver more work. The role leads estimating and tendering, from reviewing a tender to submitting a well-priced, competitive bid, and brings engineering knowledge to planning and delivering jobs. It is based in Cairns, Townsville or Brisbane and is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings and specifications, and prepare accurate cost estimates and pricing schedules
• Carry out quantity take-offs, build up rates for plant, labour, materials and subcontractors, and obtain supplier quotes
• Prepare and submit tenders and expressions of interest, including methodologies, programs and non-price criteria
• Support prequalification with government and Tier 1 clients
• Give engineering input on construction methods, temporary works, staging and risk
• Hand projects over to delivery teams and support them with variations and claims
• Build relationships with clients, head contractors and suppliers
• Help set up estimating systems and processes as the business grows

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience
• Solid experience estimating civil works such as earthworks, roads, drainage, rehabilitation and plant hire
• Experience with government tenders (e.g. TMR, local councils, Defence) is highly regarded
• Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites when needed

• Good judgement on risk and pricing, and confidence to back your numbers
