Senior Digital / UI Designer (UX Capability)

About the role

Aquent is recruiting a Senior Digital / UI Designer with UX capability for a temporary, full-time contractor position in Melbourne, working with a leading higher education institution. The role leads the visual refresh of core digital assets, blending strong visual design with practical UX problem-solving within an agile squad of front-end and CMS developers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the redesign of high-visibility web pages, applying existing brand guidelines and design system components.
• Adapt design patterns and content layouts to align with Information Architecture refreshes, improving navigability.
• Wireframe, prototype and conceptualise digital solutions beyond the current design system scope.
• Work daily in an agile squad with CMS developers, front-end engineers and product stakeholders.
• Run usability testing and explain design decisions with data and insights to stakeholders.

Required profile

• UI/Digital portfolio showing clean, high-impact web pages and robust component systems.
• Hands-on experience in wireframing, user flows, layout hierarchy and usability testing.
• Experience collaborating with CMS and front-end developers in an integrated squad.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to defend design decisions with data.

Required skills

• Proficiency in mature UI kits and contribution to design systems.
• Wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.
