Fashion / Textiles Graphic Designer

About the role

Aquent is recruiting a fashion and textiles graphic designer in Melbourne for a temporary full-time contractor position. The role sits within a globally recognised market leader in school supplies, lifestyle products, stationery and gifts, whose products reach millions worldwide. You will turn fashion trends and creative direction into original prints, patterns, illustrations and packaging, working closely with internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Translate fashion trends, mood boards and creative direction into product solutions for the Tween market
• Develop original prints, yardages, illustrations, graphics and artwork for accessories, lifestyle and back-to-school products and packaging
• Design cohesive product ranges, collections and capsules
• Create detailed product specifications and supplier-ready finished artwork
• Curate colour palettes, materials, prints, patterns and finishes
• Work with designers and product developers to keep designs on-trend, on-brand and within production timelines and budgets

Required profile

• Midweight to senior experience in fashion, accessories, lifestyle, multi-product design or packaging
• Clear understanding of the Tween customer and contemporary youth culture
• Track record of building cohesive product ranges rather than standalone items
• Ability to turn trends into commercially successful designs
• Experience developing product specifications and production-ready artwork
• Nice to have: trend forecasting experience

Required skills

• Exceptional illustration, print and yardage design skills, shown in a portfolio
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (essential)
• Communication, collaboration and presentation skills
• Commercial acumen balancing creativity with customer expectations and price points
