Senior DevOps Engineer - AWS & AI Tooling (Remote)

About the role

A high-growth fintech with a national presence and global ambitions is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to report directly to technology leadership. You will own, maintain and improve the cloud infrastructure, automated deployment pipelines and operational tooling, working closely with 8-9 developers to get new services production-ready while keeping costs down. The position is fully remote, with a Sydney office available for collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure (ECS, RDS, OpenSearch, ElastiCache, API Gateway, CloudFront, Lambda) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu and CDK)
• Oversee code deployments and manage, improve and troubleshoot CI/CD builds and pipelines (GitLab CI)
• Review architectural proposals with software engineers so new services are secure, cost-optimized and production-ready
• Extend monitoring, system health tracking and alerting across 80% Linux and 20% Windows environments
• Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, AWS Bedrock, Anthropic models) to generate, validate, debug and refactor IaC scripts, pipelines and tooling
• Help implement automated testing tools and mentor developers on deployment conventions and best practices
• Protect client data and ensure compliance with security and privacy requirements through code-level controls and documentation (Confluence/Git)

Required profile

• At least 4-6 years of experience in DevOps, cloud architecture and infrastructure engineering
• Strong hands-on AWS experience (ECS, RDS, Lambda, OpenSearch, API Gateway)
• Experience administering Linux (mainly) and Windows Server systems
• Solid understanding of SDLC, agile and basic scripting; Node.js/JavaScript background is a plus
• Eligible as an Australian citizen or permanent resident
