Senior Design Engineer Civil (all experience levels)

About the role

We are seeking a civil design professional to join the Council's Engineering Design Services Team. The role can be filled at Cadet, Graduate, Experienced or Senior Engineer level, offering a permanent full‑time position with flexible working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver complex road, stormwater and sewer designs suitable for tender and construction.
• Provide high‑quality engineering advice and support to internal stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and drafters (senior level).
• Assist the Manager of Design and Technical Services with the Council’s Long Term Financial Plan.

Required profile

• Proven experience in road, stormwater and sewer design with knowledge of civil construction methods.
• Ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage contracts (senior level).
• Strong time‑management, organisational and communication skills.
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and registration or suitability for registration (CPEng or NER) for senior applicants.

• 12d Model, Civil3D, AutoCAD.
• SewerGEMS, GIS, TUFLOW, DRAINS, HEC‑RAS, WaterRIDE.
• Microsoft Office.
