Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft Fabric

About the role

APM Group is looking for a Senior Data Engineer in Brisbane to lead the design, development and optimisation of modern enterprise data platforms. Working with Architects, Cyber Security, Infrastructure, Application and Analytics teams, you will deliver scalable, secure and governed data solutions that support reporting, analytics and future AI initiatives. The role centres on the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise Microsoft Fabric solutions including OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Spark notebooks and Semantic Models
• Implement scalable Medallion Architecture across Bronze, Silver, Gold and Serving layers
• Build batch and near real-time data integration pipelines from applications, APIs, databases and cloud platforms
• Develop complex data transformations using SQL, Python and PySpark
• Lead data platform migration, modernisation and reporting transformation initiatives
• Drive data quality, governance, security and compliance across the data lifecycle
• Lead performance tuning, monitoring, optimisation and capacity management
• Design and support backup, recovery, high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Mentor data teams and support production-critical environments through troubleshooting and root cause analysis

Required profile

• 7+ years supporting enterprise data platforms, database environments and data infrastructure
• Hands-on experience delivering Microsoft Fabric implementations and transformation projects
• Proven experience in large-scale enterprise and cloud-enabled environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Highly regarded: Microsoft Data, Azure or Fabric certification; ITIL and/or ISO 27001 certification
