Senior Civil Designer - Highways

About the role

HDR is seeking a Senior Civil Designer to contribute to the technical delivery of a diverse range of challenging infrastructure projects. The role is based in Brisbane or Melbourne and involves working closely with engineers, designers and project managers to produce accurate, efficient and buildable design outcomes. It also offers opportunities to contribute to HDR's digital engineering and BIM initiatives within its transport practice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare civil design and documentation for road and transport infrastructure projects using tools such as 12D and AutoCAD.
• Work with engineers, designers and project managers to deliver coordinated design outcomes.
• Develop design solutions from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.
• Provide guidance and support to other designers and technicians.
• Contribute to digital engineering and BIM system development and implementation, and support innovation in CAD workflows and standards.
• Maintain high quality, accuracy and consistency across design outputs, and support the "Drive to Zero" safety and quality initiative.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience in the planning, design and documentation of highways and civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience delivering projects to Australian design standards (DTMR experience highly regarded).
• Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary, culturally diverse teams.

Required skills

• Strong capability in 12D and AutoCAD; 12D Synergy experience is required.
• ProjectWise and Navisworks experience is advantageous.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and other relevant project software.
