Senior Civil Designer (12D)

About the role

Peritas, an engineering design consultancy founded by three brothers and delivering civil and structural solutions across Australia, is hiring a Senior Civil Designer. The role covers preparing detailed designs, drawings and cost estimates for civil engineering projects such as earthwork, roadworks, stormwater drainage, traffic management and water/sewage reticulation, while advising clients on development requirements and complying with legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality, detailed designs, drawings and cost estimates for civil engineering projects, adhering to standards and the quality manual.
• Advise clients on development requirements and ensure compliance with legislation and conditions.
• Investigate engineering problems and develop effective solutions and alternatives.
• Ensure designs meet standards, conditions and quality assurance procedures within timeframes and budgets, and continuously improve internal design systems and QA processes.
• Prioritise and manage workload to meet project deadlines, and collaborate with engineering, drafting and detailing teams from project initiation to construction completion.
• Coordinate other essential services such as electrical and telecommunications, and examine documents and drawings for completeness and accuracy before client or authority submissions.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and ISO standards, retain project documents according to the HSEQ Management System, and take part in HSEQ training and incident reporting.
• Follow safety rules, investigate accidents and near misses, recommend corrective actions, assess risks and take part in emergency preparedness activities such as fire evacuations.
• Contribute to work system improvements, review work standards, assist clients in identifying sustainable options and share ideas on improving delivery.
