Senior Civil Design Engineer – Utilities

About the role

Join a collaborative civil design team delivering high‑profile energy infrastructure across Australia. The role involves hands‑on civil design for utilities and energy projects, using modelling, drawings and calculations to support the nation’s energy transition.

Key responsibilities

• Develop earthworks models, balance bulk earthworks, set site levels and produce cut‑and‑fill volumes, sketches and civil layouts.
• Design stormwater systems, culverts, access roads and pavements, and translate models into high‑quality drawings with drafters.
• Prepare technical documents, specifications and design reports for formal design stages.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, structural, primary plant) through client reviews, tenders and early contractor involvement.
• Support design quality, innovation and continuous improvement, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Hands‑on design mindset with ambition to grow into technical leadership and mentoring.
• Experience working through structured design stages and collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines.
• Willingness to learn new civil domains and develop capability across earthworks, stormwater and pavements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 12d, Civil 3D or similar civil design tools (training on 12d can be provided).
• Background in civil site design – earthworks modelling, road/access track design, stormwater drainage or pavement design.
• Ability to produce civil layouts, calculations and technical design outputs.
