Senior Business Analyst - Federal Government

About the role

A federal Australian government department, which helps make life of all Australians safer, is looking for a Senior Business Analyst with a strong technical and delivery background. The role leads the analysis and definition of business needs across strategic transformation initiatives, working closely with stakeholders to turn complex requirements into practical solutions. It is advertised as a 24-month contract covering Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior stakeholders, subject matter experts and technical teams to define and document business requirements.
• Drive end-to-end requirements management, keeping quality, traceability and business alignment.
• Advise on business challenges, improvement opportunities and process optimisation.
• Contribute to business cases, strategic roadmaps, target-state architectures and future operating models.
• Mentor Business Analysts across multiple projects and workstreams.
• Ensure strategies, plans and capability initiatives meet safety, security and regulatory standards.
• Build relationships with stakeholders, project teams and vendors, and identify and manage risks, dependencies and delivery impacts.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of Senior Business Analyst experience in complex technology, infrastructure, systems integration or transformation environments.
• Experience leading requirements management across large-scale technology, transformation, infrastructure and capability initiatives.
• Experience managing requirements from business case and procurement through to delivery and operational acceptance, including requirements traceability.
• Ability to design and document current-state and target-state processes, capabilities and operating models.
• Experience supporting system implementations, integrations, infrastructure, cyber security and digital transformation.

Required skills

• Desirable: CBAP or PMI-PBA certification.
• Desirable: exposure to BABOK, PMBOK, PRINCE2, Six Sigma, Lean, ITIL, P3M3 and Prosci.
