Senior Backend Engineer – AWS & Platform

About the role

We are a fast‑growing FinTech building digital products used daily by thousands of Australians. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own critical backend services, cloud infrastructure and platform reliability, working closely with the CTO to shape the next phase of growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js/TypeScript and Python.
• Own AWS infrastructure, including networking, serverless components and IaC pipelines.
• Drive architecture decisions for distributed, event‑driven systems.
• Improve performance, observability, scalability and operational resilience of production services.
• Provide debugging, troubleshooting and production support for critical incidents.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience building backend systems with Node.js/TypeScript and/or Python.
• Proven expertise with relational databases and SQL.
• Hands‑on experience designing and operating APIs in production.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services, networking concepts and serverless architectures.
• Experience with distributed, asynchronous and event‑driven architectures.
