Senior Associate – Global Financial Markets & Cash Operations

About the role

The Senior Associate will perform checker review and approval of business‑as‑usual cash and Global Financial Markets (GFM) transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely settlement. You will support operational risk monitoring, mentor team members and contribute to projects and system enhancements.

Key responsibilities

• Review, verify and approve cash and GFM transactions, ensuring proper authorisation, documentation and adherence to maker‑checker controls.
• Monitor operational risks, exceptions and control requirements, escalating issues and following through to resolution.
• Prepare monthly performance and control metrics reports and conduct daily/monthly reconciliations.
• Provide operational support to GFM dealers, IBG Relationship Managers and other internal stakeholders.
• Assist with UAT, LV testing, projects and Head Office initiatives impacting cash and GFM operations.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of banking operations experience, preferably in payments, settlements or treasury.
• Experience performing checker, authorisation or control review responsibilities.
• Proven ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of payment message formats (MT, MX) and cash/GFM products such as money‑market, bonds, repos and AEMO‑related transactions.
• Hands‑on experience with SWIFT, RITS, Austraclear and Murex platforms.
• Understanding of operational risk, maker‑checker controls, reconciliations and escalation protocols.
• Familiarity with AML/CTF, sanctions monitoring and IFTI reporting obligations.
