Senior Android Engineer – Remote (Australia)

About the role

Hireup is looking for a Senior Android Engineer to shape the future of its mobile platform. This permanent, full‑time role is remote within Australia and offers the chance to work on a modern, Compose‑first Android stack while experimenting with AI‑driven product experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop scalable, high‑performance Android applications using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Clean Architecture.
• Own features from ideation and technical design through production deployment and monitoring.
• Leverage AI‑assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, PR automation, test generation) to accelerate discovery and delivery.
• Drive technical excellence across architecture, CI/CD pipelines and observability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to turn ambitious ideas into polished, production‑ready code.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Android Architecture Components.
• Deep knowledge of performance optimisation, multithreading and app lifecycle management.
• At least one year of experience integrating with back‑end services.
• Enthusiasm for using AI tools to work faster and smarter.
• Proven end‑to‑end ownership from concept to deployment.
• Data‑driven mindset with experience in A/B testing, feature flags and experimentation.
• Solid background in testing strategies (unit, UI, Compose) and CI/CD pipelines.
