Senior Android Developer (Kotlin) - Remote

About the role

A partner company is recruiting a Senior Android Developer (Kotlin) based in Australia to join a remote, international team. The role builds and enhances native Android applications with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusive design, using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Android Views. It is a long-term international project on a fully remote basis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain native Android applications in Kotlin, adding new features and improving existing ones.
• Build and improve app components with Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views, keeping code stable, performant and maintainable.
• Implement and optimise accessibility features, including TalkBack compatibility, content descriptions, accessibility roles and states, and focus management.
• Support scalable text, accessible font sizes, optimised touch targets and accessible navigation.
• Run accessibility testing with TalkBack and validate implementations against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience in native Android development.
• Substantial hands-on experience implementing accessibility features in Android apps.
• Good English and the ability to collaborate in an international team.

Required skills

• Strong Kotlin and commercial experience with Jetpack Compose and/or Android Views.
• Experience with TalkBack, Android Accessibility APIs and Compose Semantics.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, ideally WCAG 2.1 and 2.2.
