Senior AI Technical Specialist

About the role

Export Finance Australia, Australia's export credit agency, is hiring a Senior AI Technical Specialist in Sydney. This is a hands-on, full-time permanent role leading the technical delivery of EFA's Microsoft Copilot and enterprise AI capability across business and technology teams. The specialist works closely with the Head of AI and partners with Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, Data and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy production-ready AI and Copilot solutions, configuring Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio and Azure AI services, and building agents, workflows and integrations.
• Maintain core AI platforms, environments and reusable components, including agent configurations, integrations and approved data connections.
• Test solutions for security and reliability, monitor deployed solutions and resolve performance, reliability and integration issues.
• Design technical standards for agents and AI solutions, conduct technical risk assessments and embed privacy, security, data governance and responsible AI requirements.
• Act as the primary technical subject matter expert for Copilot and enterprise AI, advise the Head of AI, support business teams and AI champions, and mentor team members.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in computer science, software engineering, information technology, data science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional experience in AI engineering, software engineering, platform engineering or a closely related discipline, including production solutions.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying agents, automations and AI solutions with Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility and Azure AI services.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Baseline security clearance.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Python and relevant AI technologies.
• Experience with testing, deployment, change and governance practices for production solutions.
• Working knowledge of identity, access, security, data protection and compliance for enterprise AI.
• Experience working with Infrastructure, Security, Architecture and business teams in Agile or cross-functional environments.
• Desirable: Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI or Power Platform certifications (AI-102, PL-400, PL-900, MS-900).
