About the role
The Senior Administration Officer leads the administration team and provides high‑quality financial, human‑resource and business support to the Manager. The role can be based in Gladstone, Emerald or Rockhampton and contributes to an inclusive culture aligned with the Human Rights Act 2019.
Key responsibilities
- Provide timely administrative advice on assets, facilities, finance, HR, performance reporting and business systems.
- Analyse data, prepare reports and draft correspondence for senior management.
- Develop, review and ensure compliance of local administrative practices and processes.
- Manage financial processes, including budget preparation, performance reporting and expenditure reconciliations.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of administrative systems for assets, fleet, finance and HR.
- Operate autonomously to resolve complex issues and adapt processes for practical solutions.
- Participate in strategic and operational planning as a member of the management team.
- Coach staff on departmental policies, asset management, budgeting and reporting.
- Allocate, prioritise and monitor tasks within the administrative team.
- Supervise, mentor and develop administrative staff, overseeing training and performance reviews.
- Build and maintain networks with internal and external stakeholders.
Required profile
- Demonstrated cultural capability and commitment to inclusive practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently on complex issues.
- Excellent judgment in balancing competing priorities and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Experience contributing to strategic planning and decision‑making.
