Security Engineer – Threat Intelligence

About the role

Snap Inc is looking for a Threat Intelligence focused Security Engineer to join its Detection and Response team in Sydney. You will track sophisticated threat actors, develop innovative security solutions, and collaborate with global teams in the US and Switzerland.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyze, and develop threat intelligence on emerging adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) across APT and cybercrime ecosystems.
• Research, innovate, and build detection and response capabilities, including tools and automations for threat hunting and incident response.
• Design, pilot, and implement robust logging and alerting systems across endpoints, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments.
• Lead incident response efforts and coordinate with multiple Snap teams to investigate and mitigate threats.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in incident response, detection engineering, or related security disciplines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Required skills

• Strong development skills in Python and/or Go.
• Deep understanding of operating system internals (macOS, Windows, Linux).
• Advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services.
