Security Engineering Manager

About the role

Snap Inc. is seeking a Security Engineering Manager to lead the Detection & Response team in Sydney. You will own multi‑year initiatives that scale security monitoring while ensuring high technical quality and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and own high‑impact, cost‑effective security monitoring initiatives.
• Maintain and improve security monitoring infrastructure, investigation tooling, and automation.
• Prioritize short‑term goals against long‑term security outcomes and system health.
• Participate directly in detection and response operations, triaging alerts and incidents.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams during security incidents and drive response efforts.
• Align team direction with organizational strategy and contribute to planning cycles.
• Recruit, develop, and retain high‑caliber engineers, fostering a collaborative culture.

Required profile

• 8+ years of post‑bachelor industry experience or advanced degree with equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of experience as an Engineering Manager.
• Proven expertise in detection and response areas such as digital forensics, malware analysis, incident management, intrusion detection, or threat intelligence.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.

Required skills

• Programming: Python, Go, Java.
• Operating system internals and expertise in macOS, Windows, Linux.
• Container orchestration: Kubernetes.
• Cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform.
