Security Engineer – Detection & Response

About the role

Join Snap Inc.'s Detection and Response (D&R) team as a Security Engineer based in Sydney. You will design, build, and operate large‑scale security systems while actively investigating and responding to threats across Snap’s global infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Build, deploy and maintain large‑scale security solutions across Snap’s ecosystem.
• Research and create new tooling to enhance security capabilities.
• Develop automation strategies to reduce manual alert triage.
• Conduct detection engineering to increase coverage of malicious activity on endpoints, networks, cloud environments and infrastructure.
• Investigate alerts and incidents end‑to‑end, including digital forensics, malware analysis and threat intelligence.
• Lead incident response efforts and collaborate with multiple internal teams.
• Participate in red‑team exercises and threat simulations to identify gaps and improve defenses.

Required profile

• Strong programming experience in Python and/or Go.
• Practical knowledge of BeyondCorp or ZeroTrust security models.
• Proven expertise in detection engineering and incident response.
