Security Engineering Manager

About the role

Snap Inc is seeking a Security Engineering Manager to lead the Detection & Response team. You will own multi‑year initiatives that scale security monitoring while ensuring high technical quality and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and own high‑impact, multi‑year projects that improve security monitoring cost‑effectively.
• Maintain and evolve security monitoring infrastructure, investigation tooling, and automation systems.
• Prioritize short‑term goals against long‑term security outcomes, team productivity, and system health.
• Participate directly in detection & response operations, investigate alerts, and triage incidents.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams during incidents and drive response efforts.
• Align team direction with organizational strategy and contribute to quarterly/annual planning.
• Mentor team members, manage performance, and foster career growth.
• Recruit top‑tier engineers and build a collaborative, high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of industry experience in security (or advanced degree with equivalent experience).
• At least 1 year of experience managing engineering teams.
• Proven expertise in detection and response areas such as digital forensics, malware analysis, incident management, intrusion detection, or threat intelligence.

Required skills

• Programming: Python, Go, Java.
• Operating system internals: macOS, Windows, Linux.
• Container and cloud platforms: Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform.
• Threat hunting and automation of detection/response workflows.
• Knowledge of BeyondCorp security model.
