Secondary Engineer

About the role

As a Secondary Engineer at Enerven you will deliver secondary designs for high‑voltage (HV) and ultra‑high‑voltage (UHV) substations and renewable energy projects across Australia. The role covers design from concept and bid stages through to commissioning, and includes mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop secondary designs such as single line diagrams, schematics, general arrangements, cable schedules and load calculations for HV/UHV substations and renewable projects.
• Review and provide technical guidance on secondary designs produced by other engineers, designers and drafters.
• Collaborate with the protection team to ensure seamless integration with protection, control, metering and SCADA systems.
• Support business development with conceptual designs, estimates and project proposals.
• Improve engineering processes, procedures and templates to enhance consistency and quality.
• Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, balancing technical, commercial and contractual factors.

Required profile

• Qualified Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineer eligible for membership of Engineers Australia.
• Experience delivering secondary designs on HV or UHV transmission and renewable energy projects.
• Strong ability to plan, prioritize and estimate engineering effort across multiple projects.
• Effective communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Secondary design of HV and UHV substations.
• Creation of single line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules and load calculations.
• Understanding of protection schemes, SCADA and telecommunications interfaces.
• Estimating and planning skills for engineering scopes.
