SCADA Systems Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a self‑motivated SCADA Systems Engineer to join its Sydney team. The role involves end‑to‑end implementation and technical support of Hitachi’s SCADA solution within a fast‑paced rail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product features, system engineering and project requirements into SCADA design and implementation outputs.
• Support SCADA interface definition and integration with control, monitoring, communications and operational systems.
• Develop and maintain SCADA configuration, including alarms, events, graphics, operator workstations and data presentation.
• Assist with system integration, factory testing, site testing, commissioning and defect resolution.
• Provide technical support to project engineering, testing, commissioning and operations teams.
• Maintain design consistency, configuration control and alignment with internal product standards.
• Act as the technical link between the project delivery team and the Hitachi SCADA product team.

Required profile

• Experience in SCADA systems engineering within complex rail or infrastructure environments.
• Practical experience with Hitachi Rail’s in‑house SCADA product, covering design, interfaces, integration, testing and support.
• Understanding of SCADA architecture, alarms, events, data acquisition and system monitoring.
• Experience supporting system integration, testing, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
• Ability to produce and maintain technical documentation and configuration records.
• Relevant qualification in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, IT or similar.
