Safety Partner (Fixed-Term)

About the role

Aurizon, Australia's largest rail freight operator, is looking for an experienced Safety Partner to join its team in Rockhampton on a fixed-term basis through to 30 June 2027. Working closely with business leaders and the broader Safety team, you will give practical safety advice, coaching and support to strengthen safety performance and embed effective safety practices.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical safety advice, tactical support and process coaching to the business
• Support leaders in fostering a strong culture of safety and wellbeing
• Help implement safety action plans and improvement initiatives
• Carry out governance and assurance activities, including frontline audits
• Monitor the effectiveness of safety policies, programs and processes
• Take part in, and lead where required, internal investigations into workplace events
• Support risk assessment and risk management activities
• Work with multidisciplinary teams and internal stakeholders, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (mandatory)
• At least 2 years of safety management experience in a high-risk industry
• Experience working with safety legislation and regulation
• Strong risk assessment and risk management capability
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders
• Experience supporting safety-related projects and improvement initiatives
