SHE Advisor - QLD

About the role

Metcash is looking for a SHE Advisor to join its Total Tools & Hardware Group (TTHG), based in Brisbane. The role partners with leaders and teams across several key sites, including Harding's M10, Finlayson's and Sunshine M10, to build a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement in safety, health and environmental practices. It is a hands-on position spent in stores and operational environments, coaching leaders, identifying risks, supporting investigations and ensuring compliance with Metcash's SHE Management System and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with site leaders to implement safety, health and environmental initiatives
• Support risk management, hazard identification and control reviews
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions
• Deliver SHE training, coaching and guidance to operational teams
• Support injury management and wellbeing initiatives
• Monitor SHE performance metrics and compliance activities
• Build relationships with stakeholders across multiple sites and promote a proactive safety culture

Required profile

• Minimum 2-4 years' experience in a Safety Advisor role
• Multi-site experience is essential
• Current unrestricted driver's licence; driving is a significant part of the role, covering sites from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast and regional Queensland
• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (WHS)
• Experience in a safety, health and environment role
• Strong understanding of workplace safety legislation and risk management principles
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Required skills

• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (WHS)
• Highly regarded: ICAM Investigation Certification, Lead Auditor Training Certification, Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, and experience in retail, hardware, warehousing or distribution
