Roads & Highways Designer / Drafter (TMR Projects)

About the role

Mott MacDonald's Roads & Highways team in Queensland is growing, supported by state-significant transport projects such as The Wave. It is seeking experienced Roads & Highways Designers / Drafters with Transport and Main Roads (TMR) experience to support major road and highway projects. The role suits someone who enjoys technically complex projects and wants long-term stability, strong project exposure and a place in a nationally connected transport team.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high-quality road and highway design drawings and models for TMR-led projects
• Support concept, preliminary and detailed designs in line with TMR standards, manuals and specifications
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, corridors, cross-sections and earthworks models
• Prepare design documentation using 12D and AutoCAD
• Coordinate with multi-discipline engineers, project managers and other stakeholders
• Support design reviews, respond to comments and contribute to constructable outcomes
• Work on projects across roads, highways, interchanges and transport corridors
• Support continuous improvement in project delivery, safety, quality and commercial performance

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience as a Roads & Highways Designer / Drafter in Queensland
• Proven experience on TMR projects, client-side, contractor-side or within consultancy environments
• Technically strong designer / drafter who understands how TMR projects are delivered
• Ability to work across multiple project stages and manage competing priorities
• Practical, delivery-focused mindset and strong attention to detail

Required skills

• Solid capability in 12D (essential)
• Solid capability in AutoCAD
• Understanding of TMR design standards, including alignment, earthworks and corridor modelling
