Release Train Engineer
AFCA · Sydney
Job description
About the role
AFCA, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, is looking for an experienced Release Train Engineer to lead end-to-end delivery across complex, technology-enabled programs and value streams. This is a hands-on leadership role that sits at the intersection of business, technology, experience design and delivery, managing dependencies and impediments while keeping delivery moving in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, technology-enabled initiatives and value streams.
- Facilitate key Agile Release Train events such as PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, Product Owner Syncs and System Demos.
- Establish and lead SAFe delivery structures aligned with enterprise governance and risk requirements.
- Translate strategy and customer experience objectives into delivery plans, roadmaps and outcomes.
- Coordinate delivery across business analysis, technology, process design, build, testing and implementation.
- Manage complex dependencies, risks and impediments across multiple teams and workstreams.
- Bring together internal technology and operational teams, vendors, system integrators and other delivery partners.
- Provide reporting and delivery assurance to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, delivery teams and stakeholders in Lean-Agile and SAFe practices, and act as a change agent.
Required profile
- 10+ years' experience leading complex technology-enabled projects and programs.
- Strong experience in enterprise delivery and transformation beyond traditional project management.
- Demonstrated experience delivering through Agile and SAFe at scale, and proven Scrum Master experience including multi-team or program-level events.
- Experience with blended delivery models involving internal teams, system integrators, outsourced or offshore partners.
- Strong risk, dependency and impediment management, and stakeholder management with senior leaders.
Required skills
- Familiarity with Agile delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence and Miro.
- Ability to coach and enable teams rather than simply direct them.
What we offer
- Hybrid working with two days a week in the offices.
- Flexible work options and additional leave options including public holidays, gender affirmation leave, women's health leave and bonus paid time off.
- A Gold AWEI Accredited workplace and an accredited family-friendly workplace.
