Registered Nurse - Surgical Ward 1

About the role

Albury Wodonga Health is recruiting Registered Nurses for Surgical Ward 1, a busy 23-bed acute surgical unit providing pre- and post-operative care for elective orthopaedic, plastics and general surgery, as well as emergency surgery and trauma. The ward emphasises teamwork, professional development and high-quality patient care. Multiple fixed-term positions are available; the closing date is 07/11/2026.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care
• Carry out comprehensive patient assessments
• Monitor and observe patients before and after surgery
• Recognise and escalate patient deterioration
• Manage complex wounds
• Contribute to multidisciplinary care planning and coordination
• Support patients and their families throughout their care journey

Required profile

• AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights in Australia
• Commitment to person- and family-centred care
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Required skills

• Understanding of quality improvement and risk management principles
• Evidence-based practice in clinical care
• Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) knowledge
• Clinical governance understanding
