Registered Nurse - Mental Health

About the role

Newcastle Community Mental Health Service, based at the James Fletcher Hospital site, is recruiting a Registered Nurse to join its multidisciplinary team. The service provides person-centred mental health care to people in the Newcastle community, and offers an orientation program with clinical supervision, education and training. The nurse reports to the HSM2 Team Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, person-centred mental health nursing care to clients, families and carers
• Deliver clinical services focused on positive health outcomes
• Work with clients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team
• Contribute to assessment, care planning, intervention and ongoing review of client needs
• Build therapeutic relationships that support engagement, recovery and wellbeing
• Use clinical judgement and evidence-based practice in a fast-paced environment
• Communicate with colleagues and other health professionals and work autonomously

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Experience in mental health across a range of clinical settings
• Ability to work confidently in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Commitment to evidence-based, person-centred, recovery-focused practice and to ongoing learning
• Australian citizenship, Australian permanent residency, or a New Zealand passport (visa sponsorship not offered)
