Registered Nurse - Mental Health

About the role

Newcastle Community Mental Health Service, based at the James Fletcher Hospital site, is recruiting a Registered Nurse for its permanent full-time position (38 hours per week). The service provides person-centred mental health care to people in the Newcastle community, and you will join a multidisciplinary team reporting to the HSM2 Team Manager. An orientation program, clinical supervision and ongoing training are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, person-centred mental health nursing care to clients, families and carers
• Deliver clinical services focused on positive health outcomes
• Work with clients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team
• Contribute to assessment, care planning, intervention and ongoing review of client needs
• Build therapeutic relationships that support engagement, recovery and wellbeing
• Use clinical judgement and evidence-based practice in a fast-paced environment
• Communicate with colleagues and health professionals and work autonomously, seeking advice when needed

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Experience in mental health across a range of clinical settings
• Commitment to evidence-based, person-centred, recovery-focused practice and to ongoing learning
• Australian citizenship, Australian permanent residency, or a New Zealand passport (visa holders may only be considered if no suitable local candidate is found)
