About the role

The Emergency Department at Gladstone Hospital is seeking a resilient Registered Nurse to join a close‑knit, 24‑hour team delivering acute care to a diverse regional population. You will work in a supportive environment that values autonomy, professional growth, and collaborative leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to patients with acute illness or injury.
• Perform rapid, accurate clinical assessments and coordinate holistic care pathways within the multidisciplinary team.
• Intervene decisively during sudden changes in patient condition using advanced critical thinking.
• Deliver health education and emotional support to patients, families, and carers.
• Coordinate shift activities and offer clinical leadership to Enrolled Nurses and support staff.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
• Proven ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate emergency patient care.
• Strong understanding of NMBA Standards for Practice and legal nursing responsibilities.
• Exceptional communication, empathy, and problem‑solving skills in high‑pressure situations.
• Excellent negotiation and critical‑thinking abilities in a rapidly changing environment.
