Registered Nurse – AOD (Mon–Fri, No Shift Work)

About the role

Join a multidisciplinary team delivering person‑centred, high‑quality care to individuals in detention with alcohol and other drug (AOD) needs. This part‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday position offers a stable schedule with no shift work, allowing you to focus on comprehensive assessments, care planning and evidence‑based interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough AOD assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide brief interventions, support withdrawal management and monitor client progress.
• Deliver health promotion, harm‑reduction education, medication administration and psycho‑education.
• Collaborate with the broader healthcare team to ensure safe, trauma‑informed care.

Required profile

• AHPRA‑registered General Nurse with unrestricted registration.
• Either 5+ years of AOD nursing experience plus a post‑graduate mental health qualification, or 7+ years of AOD nursing experience without the qualification.
• Demonstrated passion for primary health care and ability to work in a detention environment.

Required skills

• Current AHPRA registration.
• Experience conducting AOD assessments and managing withdrawal.
• Knowledge of medication administration and psycho‑educational techniques.
