About the role
Join a multidisciplinary team delivering person‑centred, high‑quality care to individuals in detention with alcohol and other drug (AOD) needs. This part‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday position offers a stable schedule with no shift work, allowing you to focus on comprehensive assessments, care planning and evidence‑based interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct thorough AOD assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Provide brief interventions, support withdrawal management and monitor client progress.
- Deliver health promotion, harm‑reduction education, medication administration and psycho‑education.
- Collaborate with the broader healthcare team to ensure safe, trauma‑informed care.
Required profile
- AHPRA‑registered General Nurse with unrestricted registration.
- Either 5+ years of AOD nursing experience plus a post‑graduate mental health qualification, or 7+ years of AOD nursing experience without the qualification.
- Demonstrated passion for primary health care and ability to work in a detention environment.
Required skills
- Current AHPRA registration.
- Experience conducting AOD assessments and managing withdrawal.
- Knowledge of medication administration and psycho‑educational techniques.
