Refinery Operator – Copper Processing

About the role

The Refinery Operator will safely operate and monitor critical refinery systems that support copper cathode production, working within a small team in Townsville’s Circulation Department.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, control and monitor the electrolyte circulation system, Electrolyte Treatment Plant and Electrolyte Purification Plant.
• Run mineral processing equipment and control systems to achieve safe and efficient production outcomes.
• Conduct process isolations and support operational activities in line with site procedures.
• Manage stormwater systems, reagent ordering and environmental compliance requirements.
• Report equipment breakdowns, leaks and defects through maintenance management systems.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and contribute to safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Safety‑focused operator who works well in a team environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a physically demanding processing environment.

Required skills

• Experience operating mineral processing, metallurgical or heavy industrial plant equipment.
• Experience in a control‑room environment with DCS and/or SCADA systems.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting ability for operational issues.
• Current manual driver’s licence and LF forklift licence.
• Computer literacy for operational reporting and documentation.
