Quality Manager - Building & Construction

About the role

McMahon Services is looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join its Building & Construction team in Adelaide. Reporting to the General Manager – Construction Major Projects, you will own quality management across the Building & Construction portfolio, including the ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System, inspection and test plans, internal audits, quality training, non-conformances and continuous improvement. The role works closely with Construction Managers, Design Managers, Project Managers and site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the application and continuous improvement of the ISO 9001 QMS and support annual external certification audits.
• Develop and maintain quality policies, procedures, templates and systems, and set quality objectives and KPIs.
• Build and standardise a library of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and review project-specific ones.
• Lead the annual internal quality audit program, conduct site and desktop audits and support corrective actions.
• Own NCR and defects management, run root-cause analysis and drive improvements that reduce defects and rework.
• Deliver quality workshops and training, mentor Quality Coordinators and Advisors, and work with technical, design, construction and project managers on quality issues.
• Prepare quality performance reports for senior leadership and represent the quality function with clients, certifiers and regulators.

Required profile

• Significant quality management experience in building, construction, engineering or industrial services.
• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quality Management or a related discipline, or equivalent senior experience.
• Current White Card and driver's licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance where required.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and audit methodology, with experience implementing and maintaining an ISO 9001 QMS.
• Experience developing and standardising ITPs, managing NCRs and defects, and running internal audit programs.
• Knowledge of the National Construction Code and Australian Standards, and of Procore, Aconex or similar platforms.
