Quality Assurance Coordinator – Civil Construction

About the role

As a Quality Assurance Coordinator you will lead the development and oversight of quality assurance systems for civil construction activities within Alcoa’s Residue department at the Wagerup Refinery. You will ensure embankment structures meet engineering specifications, regulatory requirements and Alcoa’s high standards while working a Monday‑to‑Friday roster with a leisure day off every four weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement QA systems aligned with ISO 9001 and Alcoa standards.
• Conduct audits and inspections of construction activities, materials and documentation.
• Collaborate with civil and geotechnical engineers to verify design and construction quality.
• Investigate non‑conformances and drive corrective actions.
• Coach site personnel and contractors on QA procedures and standards.
• Maintain QA documentation including ITPs, check sheets and NCR logs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) and ISO 9001 Auditor certification (preferred).
• Proven experience in civil construction QA, ideally in mining or heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical and structural engineering principles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and construction documentation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
