Property Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Property Maintenance Technician is a full‑time, hands‑on position responsible for keeping Sacred Heart Mission’s diverse property portfolio safe, functional and welcoming. You will work across multiple sites, handling day‑to‑day repairs, preventative maintenance and supporting program teams.

Key responsibilities

• Complete general repairs and maintenance including minor carpentry, patching, painting, door/window hardware, locks, fixtures, fittings and furniture.
• Respond to maintenance requests, prioritise work, and carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
• Perform room turnarounds between residents, ensuring repairs, painting and readiness checks are completed.
• Act as the day‑to‑day contact for contractors, arrange site access, inspect completed works and follow up on defects.
• Maintain accurate work orders, photographs, records and manage tools, consumables and spare parts within purchasing limits.

Required profile

• Practical, reliable and able to work independently across multiple sites.
• Experience in a general maintenance, handyperson or facilities role, preferably across several locations.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety and ability to assess and prioritise maintenance issues.
• Good judgement when checking contractor work and confidence to raise safety concerns.

What we offer

• Base salary of approximately $75,000 per year plus superannuation, leave loading and on‑call allowance.
