Projects Cost Controller

About the role

The Projects Cost Controller supports the Cost Control Team to ensure accurate costing for inventory and overheads, maintaining reconciliations between the general ledger and cost accounting system.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior cost controllers on multiple South American projects, reviewing material requisitions and ensuring correct cost coding.
• Assist project engineers and managers in setting up budgets and forecasts, uploading data into the ERP system.
• Maintain project cost forecasts in Excel, monitor actual costs versus approved budgets, and identify potential overruns.
• Produce monthly variance analysis, resolve cost discrepancies, and track purchase order variations.
• Utilise PowerBI reports for month‑end cost reporting and labour cost distribution analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Economics (preferred).
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar cost control role within a mining environment.
• Strong analytical abilities, high attention to detail, and good time‑management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication, and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with PowerBI for reporting.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for cost coding and journal entries.
