Project Manager – Mining Operations

About the role

Whitehaven is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead capital and operational projects at its Blackwater mining operation. Reporting to the Project Lead, you will oversee the full project lifecycle, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, and budget control.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of site‑based projects, from initiation to close‑out.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets and resource plans.
• Coordinate contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Monitor performance, implement corrective actions and report progress to senior leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement and project execution excellence.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the mining industry managing construction, infrastructure, maintenance or capital projects.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and contractor management abilities.
• Excellent planning, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Proven track record of delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
• Effective communication and leadership capabilities.

Required skills

• Formal engineering qualification.
• Project Management certification or relevant industry credentials (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) – preferred.
