Project Director - Legacy System Modernisation

About the role

A government-sector client is looking for an experienced Project Director to lead a major modernisation initiative that improves vehicle registration and licensing services and replaces legacy technology in the transport sector. The project is a long-term, 12-month engagement based in Brisbane CBD, open to Brisbane-based candidates only, with three possible 12-month extensions. It is advertised as a competitive daily rate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for a large-scale transformation program, aligning stakeholders, teams, priorities and delivery outcomes to a clear roadmap.
• Drive end-to-end program delivery, overseeing planning, governance, budgets, procurement, risks, vendor management and executive reporting.
• Lead technology and business transformation, including platform transition, data migration, integration, compliance, change management, operational readiness and capability uplift.

Required profile

• Executive leadership in complex business and digital transformation, including legacy system modernisation.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and delivery partners across business and technical workstreams.
• Experience applying PRINCE2.
• Experience delivering within Queensland Government enterprise architecture, assurance and digital investment governance requirements.
• Experience managing legacy coexistence, data migration, operational readiness and knowledge transfer.

Required skills

• Integrated planning, commercial and financial control, governance and assurance, and executive-level reporting.
• Senior stakeholder engagement, decision support and resolution of complex risks, issues and cross-dependencies.
• Service transition leadership, organisational change, capability uplift and benefits realisation.
• Oversight of architecture, data, security, privacy and operational readiness in a controlled delivery environment.
